Menopause

Menopause is a natural stage of life when a woman's periods stop due to a decline in hormone levels, usually between the ages of 45 and 55. Before menopause, many people experience perimenopause – the transition leading up to menopause – when hormone levels begin to fluctuate, causing symptoms even if periods are still regular.

Symptoms can vary from person to person and may include hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, anxiety, poor sleep, brain fog, memory problems, joint aches, headaches, vaginal dryness, reduced sex drive and changes to menstrual cycles.

There are a range of treatments and support available, including healthy lifestyle changes, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), non-hormonal medications, talking therapies and self-help strategies. If you think you may be experiencing perimenopause or menopause, speak to your GP or healthcare professional to discuss your symptoms and the treatment options that are right for you.
